Now that the final arrival date in Australia has passed, the BMSB 2020-21 season has really come to an end. Waiting for the new season to start in September, we will briefly look back on last BMSB season.

At the start of the season, treatment provider EWS Group prepared itself with a realistic capacity increase in anticipation of the season. EWS had set up locations in several European countries and ports where treatments could and were allowed to take place. Think of the handling of breakbulk, cars, containers and general cargo.
And that was a good thing, because the market in containers and products that require treatment for export to Australia and New Zealand soon increased enormously. And so did the number of goods that needed to be treated.
Take the port of Antwerp as an example, where EWS Group offered a trimodal network through their partners throughout the season. Containers or other goods could be delivered by truck, train, or barge. In addition, the network provided a dedicated terminal with a focus on ro-ro cargo, high and heavy, general cargo and static cargo that we can fumigate or perform a heat treatment on.
EWS Group also expects an increase in exports to Australia and New Zealand next season and is therefore already preparing to set up a network of treatment locations.
